The theory assessment is completed Online, the assessment is multiple-choice, there are 50 questions and the allocated time to complete it is 1 hour and 45 mins. The pass mark is 35/50.
A date is set for each course.

Throughout the online delivery course candidates will be set coursework/assignments, worksheets etc and will be marked by their course tutor.
Practical Assessment (Face to Face at a venue)
All practical assessments need to be assessed in person at one of our locations. When booking each course has an allocated location.

Entry Requirements
Some experience of gym-based exercises, including free weights, is highly recommended.
The course requires physical exertion, and individual participation is essential; therefore, a degree of physical fitness is necessary.
There is an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved and learners should have basic skills in communication pitched at level 2.
Due to the course being delivered via Zoom, we ask all learners have a good stable internet connection, and use of a PC, Laptop or Tablet with webcam.
Certification
On completion candidates will be awarded with an Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing e-certificates. Active IQ are no longer offering hard copy certificates.

Delivery
The practical element of the course is delivered over the five days where the following elements will be covered. (This may vary).
Day 1- Introduction, Day to Day structure and Assessment requirements Health and Safety of facility, Customer Care, Gathering Information, Consultation, SMART goals, and Fitness Testing.
Day 2- Completion of Consultation Observation, Introduction to CV machines, Mobility, Pulse Raiser, Stretches, Training Zones and Planning CV Training.
Day 3- CV Practice (Mobility, Pulse Raiser, Stretches and Main CV), Introduction and Practice of Resistance machines, Free weights, Functional and Body Weight exercises. Plan Group Programme.
Day 4- Practise 1-1 programme, Completion of Session evaluation questions, Cool Down and Post stretches, Cool Down and Post stretches
Day 5- All day – Group Induction practical Assessments
*Homework tasks will be given out after each day of delivery
Assessments
Candidates are assessed throughout the course by written questions and practical continuous assessment. The final assessments normally take place two weeks after the last day of the course, and they consist of:

Principles of anatomy, physiology, and fitness
Practical Assessment:
Within the course delivery days candidates will be assessed working in a small group delivering a range of exercises.
A practical day will be set so that the candidate can complete their summative assessment. From a planned programme that is devised by the candidate on the course, the candidate will induct a client safely and effectively onto a range of equipment. Afterwards they will evaluate the session.

Assessments
Throughout the course candidates will be set Coursework/Projects, worksheets etc and will be marked by their course tutor.
Online Theory Assessments – There are two online theory assessments for this qualification, the assessments are multiple-choice, there are 40 questions for each assessment and the allocated time to complete it is 90 mins. The pass mark is 28/40.

Applied anatomy and physiology for exercise health and fitness
The principles of nutrition and their application to exercise and health
Practical Assessment:
There are a few modular practical observations for the following areas: Consultation, Personal Training session and Training Techniques, these will be assessed within the course delivery days.
A practical day will be set so that the candidate can complete their summative assessment. From a planned programme that is devised by the candidate on the course, the candidate will deliver a Personal Training session to an experienced client using a range of Advanced training methods. Afterwards the candidate will evaluate the session.
