The level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing and level 3 Diploma in Personal Training package combines both qualifications you need to work successfully as a qualified Personal Trainer. By completing both courses this will enable you to induct clients safely and effectively onto gym equipment and plan and devise programmes using advanced training methods.

Book both our Active IQ Level 2 Gym Instructor and Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training together and receive both courses for the fantastic price of £1399.00. This also includes the FTScotland Kettlebell Instructor Qualification.

The qualification will be delivered online with the use of online lectures and online learning resources. The practical assessments will be delivered at one of our locations. Each online course has a location assigned to it.

Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing

Manual

Candidates will receive a Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing manual when booking and be asked to read through specific sections and utilise e-learning below to help with revision.

E-learning

E-learning is included in the cost of the course. It is designed to offer a different learning style from the manual as some of our learners prefer visual and interactive learning as they struggle to study from the book alone. Within the e-learning resource it will cover:

  • Principles of anatomy, physiology, and fitness
  • Professionalism for fitness instructors and providing excellent customer care
  • Health and safety in a fitness environment
  • Conducting client consultations in a gym-based environment to support positive behaviour change.
  • Planning and instructing gym-based exercise programmes and group inductions

Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training

Active IQ has advised that candidates would require a laptop or computer to access their e-Learning account as an iPad or mobile phone would not have the full capability to perform all the functions within the e-Learning.

Online Theory
The theory assessment is completed Online, the assessment is multiple-choice, there are 50 questions and the allocated time to complete it is 1 hour and 45 mins. The pass mark is 35/50.
A date is set for each course.

Worksheets and Assignments
Throughout the online delivery course candidates will be set coursework/assignments, worksheets etc and will be marked by their course tutor.

Practical Assessment (Face to Face at a venue)
All practical assessments need to be assessed in person at one of our locations. When booking each course has an allocated location.
There are two practical assessments and an evaluation:
• Modular summative observation
• Summative observed session
• Session self- evaluation

Diploma in Personal Training Assessments

Online Theory
The theory assessments are completed Online, the assessments are multiple-choice, there are two theory papers:
1. Applied Anatomy and Physiology for Exercise and Health (pass mark 28/40)
2. Applying the principles of Nutrition to a physical activity programme (pass mark 28/40) A theory date is set for each course.

Entry Requirement

Some experience of gym-based exercises, including free weights, is highly recommended.

The course requires physical exertion, and individual participation is essential; therefore, a degree of physical fitness is necessary.

There is an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved and learners should have basic skills in communication pitched at level 2.

Certification

On completion candidates will be awarded with both Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing and Active IQ Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training e-certificates. Active IQ are no longer offering hard copy certificates.
