New online course – The aim of this qualification is to develop candidates with existing knowledge and skills in gym instruction who would like to pursue a career in personal training. The qualification will be delivered live online over six days (3 consecutive weekends) with the use of online lectures, and learning resources. It is only the practical assessment that will be required to be held at one of our facilities face to face. Once the candidate is qualified, they will be able to train clients on a one-to-one basis and in small groups using advanced training methods and creating programs specific to the client’s needs. This qualification also includes business skills which is an important part of starting a new career as a Personal Trainer.

Due to the course being delivered via Zoom, we ask all learners have a good stable internet connection, and use of a PC, Laptop or Tablet with webcam.
Applications for all courses close at 12 pm on the Monday before the course commences, unless the course is full prior to this.
Please note if you hold a Level 3 Award in Nutrition for Exercise, and Health qualification, it can only be used towards the Nutrition theory and cannot exempt you from the case study.

Home Study
Candidates will receive a Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training manual when booking and be asked to read through specific sections of the manual before attending the course. The sections of the manual include:

Online Theory
The theory assessments are completed Online, the assessments are multiple-choice, there are two theory papers:
1. Applied Anatomy and Physiology for Exercise and Health (pass mark 28/40)
2. Applying the principles of Nutrition to a physical activity programme (pass mark 28/40)
A theory date is set for each course.
Worksheets and Assignments
Throughout the course candidates will be set coursework/assignments, worksheets etc and will be marked by their course tutor.
Practical Assessment (Face to Face at a venue)
All practical assessments need to be assessed in person at one of our locations. When booking, each course has an allocated location.
There are two practical assessments and an evaluation:
• Practical assessment of training techniques
• Practical assessment of a personal training session
• Completion of a self-evaluation

Entry Requirements
Candidates must hold a suitable level 2 qualification in gym instructing.
The course requires physical exertion and individual participation is essential, therefore a degree of physical fitness is necessary.
There is an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) and maths involved, so learners should have basic skills in communication and maths pitched at level 2 (as a minimum).

Certification
On completion candidates will be awarded with an Active IQ Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training e-certificate. Active IQ are no longer offering hard copy certificates.
