New online course – This Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing has been designed for candidates who wish to develop their skills and knowledge to work and/or seek employment as a gym instructor. Candidates will be equipped with the skills to prescribe, plan and deliver safe and effective exercise programmes to a range of clients. The qualification will be delivered online with the use of online lectures and online learning resources. The practical assessments will be delivered at one of our locations. Each online course has a location assigned to it.
Due to the course being delivered via Zoom, we ask all learners have a good stable internet connection, and use of a PC, Laptop or Tablet with webcam.

Once the candidate completes the application process they will get access to resources to help them prepare for the course and their assessments.
Resources
Manual – Candidates will receive a Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing manual when booking and be asked to read through specific sections prior to the delivery of the course. The manual has end of section questions after each section, this helps the candidate check what knowledge they have retained and areas they may need to focus on.
Videos – Candidates will get access to all practical videos of demonstrations and correct techniques for Mobility exercises, Cardiovascular machines, Pre and post stretches, resistance machines, free weights, body weight exercises and functional exercises.
Mock theory paper – Candidates will receive a copy of an example theory paper to help with revision and set

There are worksheets that are required to be completed before the course starts. Candidates will receive guidance on this when booking.

Candidates will study some of the course through home study as well as four days of face to face delivery through an online platform ZOOM. See below the course structure:

Assessments
Online Theory
The theory assessment is completed Online, the assessment is multiple-choice, there are 50 questions and the allocated time to complete it is 1 hour and 45 mins. The pass mark is 35/50.
A date is set for each course.
Worksheets and Assignments
Throughout the online delivery course candidates will be set coursework/assignments, worksheets etc and will be marked by their course tutor.
Practical Assessment (Face to Face at a venue)
All practical assessments need to be assessed in person at one of our locations. When booking each course has an allocated location.
There are two practical assessments and an evaluation:
- Modular summative observation
- Summative observed session
- Session self- evaluation

Entry Requirements
Some experience of gym-based exercises, including free weights, is highly recommended.
The course requires physical exertion, and individual participation is essential; therefore, a degree of physical fitness is necessary.
There is an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved and learners should have basic skills in communication pitched at level 2.

Certification
On completion candidates will be awarded with an Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing e-certificates. Active IQ are no longer offering hard copy certificates.
